Ask for a second review of a refused message

An independent reviewer re-judges the same content under the same policy. Four possible outcomes, all of them honest.

Mails.ai — Ask for a second review of a refused message

Press Request a second review in the dashboard, or POST /v1/messages/appeal with the same subject and body the refused send used. A second, independent judgment is made under the identical policy — a review is not a softer pass, it is a different reader.

The drafts page, where the second-review button sits alongside a refused message

The four outcomes

  • overturned — that exact content is cleared for 24 hours and the identical send goes through.

  • upheld — the refusal stands. The content is cold outreach or marketing under the same policy a second reader applied.

  • not_appealable — the block is deterministic policy (prohibited content, bulk-list language, a multi-signal cold pitch). There is no review to run, and saying so beats pretending to review it.

  • not_blocked — the content is not refused at all; something else went wrong with your send.

Two things worth knowing

  • An appeal is never a re-roll. Identical content replays its stored outcome, so re-submitting the same message does not eventually get a yes.

  • Ten appeals per workspace per 24 hours.

If a whole class of your legitimate mail is being refused, that is a product problem on our side and worth an email — the appeal path is for individual messages, not for a systematic mismatch.
